Our products!
|
For our first presentation we decided to get our inspiration from the city and the urban environment.
We live in cities, big or small, with quiet streets and busy highways.
The city in which we live adds another layer to who we are: it influences our perspectives of the world, it shapes our thoughts and creates our experiences.
The city, the urban environment, affects our view of the world, our world inside.
The city, urban space, has been considered by some as our fourth skin.
Where “skin” is the envelope of our body and communicates with the outside.
But how the city communicates with us?
As a group (Decaf) we want to break with paradigms and labels, we are taking inspiration of the city, and try to bring elements of the street into the inside living space.
We want to challenge the regular Joe Doe to bring the language of his city within his third skin, and experience his city in a different way and bring the feelings of our streets to the living room. Our aim is to offer the clues and particularities of the street to the intimate space.

Graffiti Lamp
Here the inspiration comes from graffiti. Graffiti is the dialogue of city, of the Artist working in the dark. Here we put him in the light !
Graffiti is vandalism, but is it? Or is it art? Are we not selling in art galleries graffiti pieces made by street artist that work in the dark of the night where their own identity is hidden? And was there not just a major public museum exhibition of street art in London, Tate modern showing artists who only sign their pieces with their street name, like “Blu”, “Faile” “JR” or Nunca
This product is inspired in that moment: the shadows of the night, the art expression and the freedom in communication with the city.
Lamp sheds light to this moment, allowing the artist lurking in the dark to bring the city into the living room, communicating with one individual at a time in the comfort of their own homes.

SOLITUDE Bathtub
The Bathtub’s inspiration comes from invasion of the personal space.
We face the intricacies of the city every time we walk out our front door.
We walk the big avenues, we go back and forth to our jobs, schools, fun gathering places, we walk in narrow streets and we are always surrounded by strangers but still maintaining our personal space.
We find solace in our homes, we close the door and we are in our personal space, we leave the city behind. Everything is familiar, everything is comfortable; we are within our third skin.
But what if our most intimate space is surrounded by strangers, by the shadows that we see each time we walk our streets?
In this bathtub the shadows of those strangers invade your most personal moment.
but don't they all the time ?

Pre-cast Table
The construction of our houses and city stays behind the fence with the workers, daily we pass the sites not given any more notice than what we see in the corner of our eye.
Reflections show us what we never consciously see or maybe don’t want to see !
Is this the underbelly of the city or just the urban underground ?
